Angela Rye, an attorney, political CNN commentator, NPR political analyst, podcaster & CEO of Impact Strategies, a political advocacy firm and executive director and general counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus, joined the 104.3 JAMS morning show to talk about the racial injustice happening in America.
Rye explained that people have been responding with "rage" as protests, riots, and looting continue this week because the black community has dealt with "the same issues, different name, different person, different decade, but the same issues." She said the response means the community is "tired of being invisible."
When asked about her recent Facebook LIVE with Justin and Hailey Bieber, Rye told Ed Lover that she's "very proud of them." During the conversation, Rye said the couple wanted to know "what do they do in this moment," a question she said many white people are asking.
Aside from the violent riots, Rye said the movement has been very positive mainly because people are finally understanding. She says that there's more "what they could do to be helpful, more apologies," and "more acknowledgment" of what is happening than she has ever seen with any other police shooting or injustice.
