Bill Maher called President Donald Trump and his administration the "greatest crisis" America has faced since the Civil War.
Speaking to The Church of Lazlo show on Kansas City's 96.5 The Buzz, Maher tore into Trump, calling him a "traitor" and a "deadbeat."
"I think this is the greatest crisis this country has faced since the Civil War," Maher said. "I think this is the greatest threat to everything that is America, like the rule of law and democracy. That's all on the line."
Maher, who hosts Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO and continues to perform live around the country (with scheduled stops in St. Louis and Kansas City coming up later this week), also suggested Trump would not leave "voluntarily" were he to lose the presidency in 2020. "The worst thing that ever happened to us is that he started to enjoy his job," Maher said.

Maher has been an outspoken critic of not just Trump, but also members of the political left. "Liberals, be a little humble. We don't control any form of government," Maher said. "The right literally likes Russia more than they like us. So, I'm not saying most of this is our fault but it is exhausting to always have to appease the professionally offended. I just wish people would understand that you need to give a rest to crimes against [wokeness> until Donald Trump is gone. Because if they make this next election about pronouns and bathrooms, we're going to lose it again. We just can't afford to blow any more elections."
