Lend a Hand with Food Insecurity Relief

According to recent hunger relief statistics, 1 in 3 children in South Georgia do not know where their next meal is coming from. This fact hits close to home for American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, who grew up in Albany, Georgia. The singer-songwriter teamed up with Dole Packaged Foods to let sunshine in and drive hunger out this holiday season.

On Thursday, November 15, Dole Packaged Foods launched the Let Sunshine In, Drive Hunger Out “Buy One, Give One” initiative, where customers at participating retailers purchased 20 oz. cans of DOLE® Pineapple and, for every can purchased, Dole Packaged Foods committed to providing one can to a community food bank. Dole Packaged Foods has been involved in hunger relief efforts for generations, with over 1 million pounds of healthy food donated each year to support families in need.

“There are so many people that are out there that are going hungry,” says Phillip Phillips. “When you give, it really changes everything.”
