Jack White’s Third Man Records was founded in 2001, and in February of this year, Third Man Pressing opened in Detroit.
While we took you on a tour of the vinyl pressing plant back when it opened, we didn’t get to hear from White himself. This time, the rock icon sat down to speak with CBS This Morning to give us some insight into Third Man Pressing, how it began, and what it’s all about.
Some highlights? The pressing plant houses equipment that hasn’t been built in over 30 years, and that kind of equipment creates some really beautiful vinyl. Pressed flowers beautiful. Interestingly enough, White and his team thought they were going to lose money on this project, but they’re doing pretty well, thanks to a newfound love of vinyl among music fans.
