Wildfires are wreaking havoc on large parts of California. But some four legged friends are doing all they can to help families cope with the devastation.
These comfort dogs deployed to Thousand Oaks. They’re consoling those affected by the wildfires, as well as the recent deadly mass shooting at Borderline Bar.
"It was wonderful to see the comfort dogs and all the different residents, especially the children interacting with the dogs," a Red Cross represenative said.
There was lots of petting, hugging and even some kisses for people needing a pick me up.
The Red Cross says these pups also help people open up after a tragedy. "...People who may not have talked to us for two days, but they can sit down, pet a dog, and maybe start reflecting on things that have occurred."
At least 42 people have been killed in the wildfires. And 12 died in the Borderline Bar shooting.
