By Meredith Ganzman

It’s a Christmas miracle for one family, after their 17-year-old daughter woke up from a two-week-long coma.

When Christina Van Der Velden, who has cystic fibrosis, got sick recently, doctors told her family to prepare for the worst. But incredibly, the teen, who goes by Chrissy, is now recovering, although she has a long road ahead.

Once she is well enough, Chrissy will have to undergo a dual lung transplant. Throughout her journey, she has expressed herself through art to help cope with the challenges she faces.

Her family says they are appreciative of everyone's support, especially during the holiday season. They are raising money for Chrissy's fight against her disease on GoFundMe.
