Firefighters arrived at a river just in time to rescue a drowning deer.

It fell through the ice near Ontario, Canada.

One firefighter dove into the freezing waters and used a hook and rope to get hold of the animal.

Crews prepared for the deer to possibly jump back in the river, but instead it took off into the forest.
