Gold Star Children Arriving In Airport Bring Holiday Travelers To A Standstill

By Meredith Ganzman

This airport stood still in honor of some very special children and their families.

100 Gold Star children and spouses arrived at Nashville International Airport on their way to an all expenses paid trip to Disney World. These are children who have lost a parent in the military.

One traveller said that when the kids boarded the “Snowball Express,” people in the terminal stopped what they were doing and sang the national anthem as military members stood in salute. The woman said it was an extremely emotional and humbling experience.

The Gary Sinise Foundation takes more than 1,000 Gold Star children to Disney World each year.
