Financial issues did not stop this single mom from getting festive for the holidays. She made her own Christmas tree out of blown up rubber gloves. And the whole thing only cost her about $2.50.

After not picking up enough shifts as a home health aide, 23-year-old Maxine Oliver didn’t know how much seasonal cheer she’d actually be able to afford. To save money, she worked through to night on this amazing frugal Christmas tree.

It’s made from her own medical gloves. Cupcake cups are strung as ornaments. Paper and tin foil tinsel wrap the piece. And there are handmade Christmas presents adorned with candy wrappers. The resourceful mom says her son, Charlie, loves the tree and was completely surprised.

She says that although Christmas is tight this year, her family has heat and food and what they need. The United Kingdom mom hopes the tree teaches everyone that you don’t need big bucks to understand the true meaning of the holiday.
