A terminally ill teen took her dream of becoming a flight attendant to new heights.
Shantell “Shannie” Pooser, who has Down syndrome, has heart and airway defects. She flies back and forth from South Carolina to Ohio for treatment and surgeries.
Becoming a flight attendant was on her bucket list, and American Airlines made her dream come true. She was inspired by the kind flight attendants she’d met in her travels.
For her seventeenth birthday, Shannie got her wings when she assisted flight attendants in the safety demonstration before takeoff.
The airline also got her a full uniform and badge and threw her an unforgettable party on a Boeing jet.
