Rob Gronkowski Wins WWE 24/7 Title at Bizarre WrestleMania 36

WrestleMania 36 was the sporting highlight of the weekend, or the last month, really.

The pre-taped, two-day spectacular was a far cry from the sold-out Pontiac Silverdome of WrestleMania III (that saw Hulk Hogan bodyslam all 500 pounds of Andre The Giant. But what it lacked in fan presence and live interactions it made up for in choreography and production value, especially in Saturday’s Boneyard match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles (it was like “Evil Dead 2” meets the fight scene from “They Live”). And while the verdict is smashing success for the event, the jury is kinda still out on the event’s host, Gronk, who brought his signature enthusiasm (maybe too much so) along with an outfit from a Culture Club video.

Oh, and Gronk managed to come away with another title, adding some more hardware (for as long as the WWE story line allows it) to his trio of Lombardi trophies.

Gronk took down Mojo Rawley, someone who he had previously assisted in victory at other big events, to win the 24/7 Title. This championship, introduced in 2019 by all-time wrestling great Mick Foley, can be won at any time, on any show, by any superstar (current or retired), which is why Gronk was able to win the title at a moment's notice.

Be wary, Gronk, as it's likely that WWE will look to keep you involved in the story line and strip that title away from you. No matter who the other WWE superstar is, any story line with Gronk in the picture makes for some wrestling action with tons of outside appeal.
