WWE veteran superstars CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are reportedly joining the rival All Elite Wresting (AEW) company in the near future. And the distinct possibility of both free agents altering the wrestling landscape has grabbed the attention of WWE Hall of Famer and AEW broadcast talent Mark Henry.
"As a wrestling fan, oh my god, yes, I'd be excited," Henry told The DA Show on Wednesday. "I don't know anything and I don't want to. But I want to absorb it just like the fan does. When the music hits and the person comes out, believe me, I'm going to jump out of my seat just like the fan would.
"And that's what we want to bring to the table, to surprise the newness and excitement that doesn't go on for one week -- it carries on for a long period of time. CM Punk is an unbelievable talent, and he's been out of the business for a long time. I hope that if he does come back, as fans, we'll get to see him in the way that we saw him before."
Punk, a multi-time WWE world champion, hasn't wrestled since January 2014. The 42-year-old participated in 432 WWE-branded matches across nine years, and was once the longest-reigning world champion of the modern era.
Bryan, another multi-time belt winner, is one of the most iconic wrestlers in recent memory. The 40-year-old last appeared in the ring back in April during WrestleMania 37, when he was part of the main event Triple Threat match.
On Friday, AEW introduces "Rampage" -- its second network television show. The series premiere will air on TNT at 10 p.m. ET, and Henry will be part of the commentary team.
