The Los Angeles Chargers haven't won an AFC West division title since 2009, but it sure looks as though their drought might come to an end this season.

With a first-year head coach and a second-year quarterback, the Chargers are rapidly shedding their long-standing reputation as underachievers. They upset the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs on the road last Sunday, and emphatically beat the Las Vegas Raiders, 28-14, on Monday at SoFi Stadium.

"They're a team that can absolutely win the Super Bowl," GoLongTD.com's Tyler Dunne told the Reiter Than You show on Tuesday. "They're a different Chargers team. The Chargers of the past would settle for a 42-yard field goal after a couple of kneel-downs and then miss the kick. They didn't do that [against the Chiefs], and they took care of business against an undefeated Raiders team, convincingly... That was a separation game there."

Justin Herbert, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, is working his way into the MVP conversation. The 23-year-old completed 25 of 38 passes for 222 yards with three first-half touchdowns against the Raiders, and became the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to reach 500 career completions before his 20th start (19).

Chargers rookie head coach Brandon Staley also has the defense pulling its weight. Through four games, the unit ranks seventh in the league in average points allowed (18.5), ninth in average yards allowed (332.0), and sixth in total takeaways (7). On Monday night, superstar edge-rusher Joey Bosa became the fastest player in Chargers history to record 50 career sacks (67 games).

Los Angeles (3-1) will host the Cleveland Browns (3-1) in a marquee Week 5 matchup on Sunday. According to FiveThirtyEight's projections, the Chargers have a 76-percent chance to reach the playoffs and a 39-percent chance to win the AFC West.
