Bill Polian knows a thing or two about what it takes to win in the NFL. The 6-Time NFL Executive of the Year likes Brandon Staley, he saw Staley's rise in football circles coming. Polian, however, hated Staley's use of analytics in the Chargers loss to the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.

Polian joined The DA Show on Friday morning to explain why analytics infringe upon the "coaches prerogative."

"I believe that from the day I heard Coach Levy tell me that. Reinforced by Paul Brown, reinforced by Bill Walsh, reinforced by Mike Holmgren. The Chargers outplayed... for 60 minutes, outplayed the Kansas City Chiefs. If they make just 2 of three of those field goals they win the game." Polian told DA. "There's never a chance the Chiefs are coming back. When you don't get points what you are telling your defense is keep doing your job and sooner or later we are going to get points. NO YOU'RE NOT, they are too hard to come by."

Polian thinks there is a difference in when you should use analytics and when you should not.

"I believe the analytics in short yardage and goal line are inoperable. You should not use them, they have no bearing on how the game is being played. Why would you sacrifice points? They are too hard to come by."

Maybe Marv Levy coaching the Chargers last night wins vs the Chiefs, Staley and his analytics department did not. Now the pathway to an AFC West title is that much easier for the Chiefs.
