Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay’s “Law & Order” characters are back together.

Meloni’s Detective Stabler and Hargitay’s Detective Benson are thrust back into each other’s lives in a crossover event between their respective “L&O” shows “Organized Crime” and “SVU”.

This go ‘round finds Benson coming to the realization her and Stabler’s squads have been investigating the same case “from opposite ends”. The SVU team has been looking into assaults happening the same way but with different DNA at the scenes.

When Benson and Stabler are reunited, it’s the first time since they nearly kissed earlier in their seasons.

“You know, the last time we saw each other that was a — that was a bad time for me,” Benson reveals.

Stabler responds, “Worst timing from me.”

“I know that you were just trying to make me feel safe,” Benson says. “I think we both felt that.”

“Just not the right moment,” Stabler replies.

Then the officers get into the case, working off each other.

“That’s why I called you,” Benson says. “I think you and I are working the same case from opposite ends.”

“OK, partner,” Stabler responds with a sly smile.

The following episode of “Organized Crime” continues the pair re-teaming up as they go question a criminal in prison who had made an attempt on Benson’s life. Stabler begins roughing the man up until Benson intervenes.
“Protect the case — not me,” Benson says.

“SVU” airs Thursdays at 9 pm EST on NBC, with “Organized Crime” following directly after.
