Ouch... rejected.
Matthew Perry was not there for Sarah Paulson when she took the bait at a kissing party.
On Monday's episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the “American Crime” actress told a tale of a bawdy little fete that Carrie Fisher invited her to.
The party took place at the house of writer Gore Vidal, and featured a number of famed names like Queen Latifah, Shirley McClain, and we’re guessing a bunch of notoriously lonely writers.
As Yahoo reports, it was Fisher’s idea to make it a “make-out party,” which is exactly like what it’s named. In a more innocent twist on the 1970s “key parties,” a hat was presented with names in it, and you were to get lip-mashing with whatever name you pulled out of the hat.
But Paulson was not having it. “All these people were there, and I was obviously panicked because, neurotic.”
But hey, when in Rome, or a Hollywood Hills party... and soon Paulson stood before "Friends" star Matthew Perry with her name in his hand.
“Matthew Perry pulled my name out, and then promptly left the room. He was like, ‘I got you.’ And I was like, ‘Uh, well let’s kiss.’ And he was like, ‘No.’”
But before you think the “Friends” star was being rude, Paulson clarified that Perry eventually explained to her that the two were already quite acquainted and had known each other through other friends, and it was just, well, awkward.
What? A random kissing party awkward? Huh.
That kiss was fated though, as Paulson told Kimmel that years later the two locked lips in a scene on the short-lived Aaron Sorkin drama, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”
“And I got my kiss. I got several kisses! And boy did he regret not taking me up on it back at Gore Vidal’s make-out party.”
Paulson did not specify the date of the make-out party, but pop culture deduction lands it sometime in the early ‘90s, as Paulson paints herself as a nervous newbie, and Matthew Perry was there.
In case you were waiting for some dish on other kissing party hook-ups, Paulson admitted that she "didn’t see anyone make out.”
