Coco Jones wants more meaningful mental health conversations on social media

During a recent chat with Audacy, actress and singer Coco Jones shared a few tools she uses to help maintain her mental health. A list that includes her spirituality, therapy, family, friends and music.

“A couple of tools that I use for maintaining my mental health, definitely first is my relationship with God,” Coco shared. “I feel like centering myself spiritually helps me mentally with clarity and what I’m trying to do in life."

Jones also noted that “therapy is the bomb-dot-com,” and that she additionally looks to her “family and friends” for support. “Sometimes moving out of whatever environment that's troubling me, going somewhere else with people that care about me, helps me.”

“One of the ways that I use music to care for my mental health is setting a peaceful environment,” Coco shared of the common useful tool for so many. “Sometimes I’ll listen to chill jazz music, sometimes I’ll listen to classical piano. And I feel like it can really set an environment for either self-reflection or even calm productivity. It helps me to get out of my head.”

When asked for a suggestion on “a way we could come together to have meaningful conversations about mental health,” Coco asserted it “would definitely be through social media.” Pointing out that while often times, “it's so easy to spread negativity,” on the platform, it should instead be better utilized to “spread information and resources, and things that have helped you personally with the world.”
