I Laughed So Hard I Cried Watching Netflix's 'The Wrong Missy'

I watched The Wrong Missy on Netflix last night, and I laughed so hard I cried. Multiple times.

Without giving any spoilers, here's what the plot is: David Spade's character goes on a really bad blind date, and then hits it off with a different woman at the airport. Both are named Melissa. Shenanigans ensue when he goes on a business trip and invites...the wrong Melissa.

Here are a few quick thoughts after watching this movie:

  • It's a slapstick romcom. It's very stupid and over-the-top, but that's the kind of movie that I typically go for when I'm looking for background noise. If you're a fan of Billy Madison, The Hot Chick, and all those movies that star "the Adam Sandler crew," then you'll need to watch The Wrong Missy
  • Lauren Lapkus' acting is awful for most of the movie. I'm not trying to drag her because I know she was cast for a reason, but her character calls for over-the-top acting and I'm just not feelin' it. It gets better later on in the movie.
  • David Spade's line, "You're going to Hollywood," sent me over the edge and I about died laughing. When you see that scene, you're gonna go, "Mollie WTF? Lol."
  • Woah, Nick Swardson looks completely different now than he did ten years ago. Also, he's actually funny in this movie and adds to the story rather than being slapstick filler.
  • For a Netflix movie, it's well-written and casting, overall, is great.
  • If everything in your world has to be 100% politically correct or else, then this is NOT the movie for you and you'll be very disappointed.
