If you've always wanted to ride a hot air balloon, but don't want to spend that kind of money, this is a once in a lifetime experience for you.

The Great Park Balloon in Irvine, California, soars up 400 feet into the air, serving as an observation deck. On a clear day, you can see up to 40 miles into the distance.

This balloon isn't actually a hot air balloon - instead, it uses helium to rise up. That said, it's a totally FREE attraction. (If you've ever researched hot air balloon rides, you know those can cost hundreds to well over $1,000.)

Boarding comes on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are not available, so you'll want to arrive as early as you can because spots fill up quick.

Irvine is about seven hours away from Sacramento, so you'll want to make this part of your next long weekend in SoCal.
