A mountain lion was spotted in Citrus Heights this weekend, according to Fox 40.

On Sunday, Citrus Heights police received a call about a mountain lion sighting near Verner Avenue. The cat was sitting in a resident's tree, and then moved over to a nearby cemetery.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife tells Fox 40 that mountain lion attacks on humans are uncommon. However, you can minimize the risk of coming in contact with one by deer-proofing land and getting rid of hiding spaces. They also advice that you do not leave pet food or pets outside, especially during dawn, dusk, and at night.
