A new version of Pepsi specifically made to drink while eating fried chicken has been released in Japan, Japan Today reports.
The new cola from Pepsi Japan is made with a special salt and citrus formula, which targets the Japanese people’s tastes. Other seasonal releases from Pepsi include a sakura and caramel punch flavored soft drink.
This summer exclusive flavor is designed to be paired with Japanese style fried chicken, and is officially named Pepsi Zero Karaage Senyo. Karaage is a Japanese fried chicken dish that is popular at bars and restaurants, and is considered a “food of the people.”
It’s described that the new Pepsi flavor has less sweetness and lacks that sharp cola taste you get from original Pepsi, which allows eaters to fully appreciate the karaage flavor.
