A rather large Thailand monkey nicknamed 'Uncle Fatty" is presumed dead after he's gone missing for the last four months.
Uncle Fatty weighed just over 30 pounds which happens to be two times the weight of the average long-tailed macaque. Fatty gained his weight due to tourists always feeding him all sorts of scraps. He wouldn't have to search for food, so the lack of exercise didn't help him keep the weight off either.
Back in 2017 local animal workers had put him into a fat camp, but he still didn't lose any weight because he kept finding food to steal.
Then the worst happened back in February...Uncle Fatty went missing. Police were asked to check local security cameras, and he was nowhere to be found anywhere throughout the town.
“Our staff always saw him sitting in front of the monument every time they came to feed the pack. But one day, he was just gone. We thought that he was just sick and might have gone into a deep forest to heal himself. We decided to search there the following week but still couldn’t find him.” the president of the "We Love Monkey Club," Kavinaphat Mongkoltechachat said.
Keep uncle fatty in your prayers, and I will keep you up to date if he is found.
