A new extremely hot planet named K2-141b has been discovered light years away from our very own planet Earth.
The planet has oceans of molten lava, supersonic gusts of wind, and rocks that rain from the sky. According to scientists this is one of the most extreme planet discoveries ever.
According to the Royal Astronomical Society, a bunch of scientists from McGill University, Indian Institute of Science Education, and York University laid out a bunch of details about this new lava planet.
K2-141b orbits its star much closer than earth, which causes all these hellish traits. The earth sized planet from atmosphere down to the oceans have essentially one main ingredient. Rocks.
"The study is the first to make predictions about weather conditions on K2-141b that can be detected from hundreds of light years away with next-generation telescopes such as the James Webb Space Telescope," author Giang Nguyen said.
Astonomers and scientists are looking forward to the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope in 2021 so they can get a closer look.
