Leave it to The Weeknd to keep things interesting. In the new music video for his 2022 Dawn FM single, "Out Of Time," the artist has enlisted a few familiar faces to help guide viewers through his latest nightmarish vision.

In the new clip, The Weeknd, (Abel Tesfaye) is seen living it up with his karaoke companion, actress and model Jung Ho-yeon -- who played North Korean pickpocket player 067, Kang Sae-byeok, in Netflix's psychological thriller Squid Game -- before their evening takes a more sinister turn. Enter the voice and creepy face of actor Jim Carrey, who eases our protagonist (now bloody and on a surgical table) into uncomfortable darkness while preparing to apply a mask of sorts.
With the intonement of a radio announcer, Carrey says: "Don't you dare touch that dial, because like the song says, you are out of time. You're almost there, but don't panic. There's still more music to come before you're completely engulfed in the blissful embrace of that little light you see in the distance. Soon you'll be healed, forgiven, and refreshed; free from all trauma, pain, guilt, and shame. You may even forget your own name. But before you dwell in that house forever, here’s three minutes of easy listening on 103.5 Dawn FM."
While it may seem an unlikely pairing, fellow Canadians Carrey and Tesfaye have been Los Angeles neighbors and friends since 2019, with the latter telling GQ last year, "we looked out the windows on our telescopes and we could see each other. That was like the beginning of my 30s. It was just like, ‘What is going on?'" The new video, obviously, was all shot and finished before Carrey revealed that he had "done enough" with his acting career in a recent chat with Access Hollywood. Carrey is also featured in the film Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which will be in theaters on April 8.
As for The Weeknd, the global top 10 artist will be hitting the road this summer, touring his massively successful After Hours album, as well as his latest release, DAWN FM. The After Hours Til Dawn Tour is set to kick off in Abel's hometown of Toronto, Canada on July 8, and promises to “showcase the musical experience of the past two albums for the first time live.” Doja Cat will be joining as special guest throughout the North American trek.
