St. Louis County, MO- The St. Louis County Department of Public Health is distributing free emergency contraception kits at its three permanent health centers.
The kits contain a couple doses of Plan B medicine, condoms, and educational materials.
"Whoever wants to get one can come get one with no questions asked and no information recorded," says Christopher Ave with the The St. Louis County Department of Public Health.
Contraceptive kit distribution is part of the Missouri Family Health Council’s Free EC initiative.
“In March, I signed an executive order committing St. Louis County to the reproductive and sexual health services it currently provides while working to expand services in an equitable way to address health and racial disparities,” Dr. Sam Page said. “Making emergency contraception free and accessible is a responsible public health decision. Thank you to the Missouri Family Health Council for making this possible.”
The contraceptive kits are being distributed between normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the John C. Murphy Health Center in Berkeley, the North Central Community Health Center in Jennings and the South County Health Center in Sunset Hills.
Kits are available while supplies last, "we are told by the council who gave them to us that they will try to get us more if we run out," stated Ave.
