Singer Billie Eilish will be joining Audacy for our fifth annual I'm Listening special happening on Thursday, September 23 at 6PM on all Audacy stations and in the Audacy app. In this preview, Billie reflects on her struggles with mental health during her lightning-fast rise to stardom.
"I feel that when I was coming up and getting bigger, I was actually very depressed," Billie says. "Over time I feel that I just, very obviously, my mental state rose and got so much better. The fans really knew that and could see it. It was just kind of a thing that everybody asked me about."
"I did all these interviews," Billie adds, "and it was like, 'so, how does it feel to be happy now?'"
I’m Listening is a 365-day-a-year initiative that aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone, and once a year we pause on every Audacy station across the country to show it's okay not to be OK.
This year's I’m Listening will be hosted by Carson Daly (NBC’s Today show and The Voice) as well as pioneering psychologist and author, Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble (The AAKOMA Project). Our star-studded guest lineup includes conversations with Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Doja Cat, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Cleveland Cavaliers' Kevin Love, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Jack Antonoff, and more.
