The presidential turkey pardon for Thanksgiving has become a beloved tradition throughout America, but here in Texas things are done a little differently. This weekend, a massive BBQ event will take over AT&T Stadium in Arlington, and to kick things off, the Arlington mayor decided to pardon three pigs. Now, the pigs that were ceremoniously named Cee Dee Ham, Treyvon Pigs and Ezekiel Pig-Elliott will be saved from the pitmasters.

On Wednesday, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross was joined by Dallas Cowboys CEO Stephen Jones and Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz for the first pig pardoning ceremony. The ceremony kicked off the BBQ event that will take over AT&T Stadium for the first time this year. According to WFAA, the event will feature "the finest pitmasters from across Texas and throughout the country to dish out award-winning smoked meats."

As for the pardoned pigs, they will now head to a farm where they will live out the rest of their days. While they were lucky to miss the event, there will still be plenty of food to go around for attendees. Maybe the pig pardon will even turn into a yearly DFW tradition.
