For a lot of North Texans, Choctaw Stadium will always be known as the Ballpark in Arlington, the former longtime home of the Texas Rangers before they moved right across the street to Globe Life Field.
Today, the stadium has been repurposed into a concert venue and serves as the home for the Dallas Jackals of Major League Rugby, and the Arlington Renegades of the UFL.
Earlier this week, the city of Arlington approved a multimillion-dollar renovation plan for the stadium, which will see the construction of "a range of new shops and restaurants into the exterior of the ballpark" according to NBC DFW.
Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said, "We're coming in and repurposing this stadium so that people can continue to enjoy the stadium by enjoying restaurants, and retail, and everything like that."
The city will put $4.2 million towards the project, which is set to begin construction in July, after MLB's All-Star Game which this year takes place at Globe Life Field.
