Even if you’re the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, Mom still always knows best.
According to Yahoo, the mother of the Mavs’ No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg put a limit on how much he could spend on a car after signing his NBA contract.
Before even signing his $67 million deal with the Mavs, Flagg had endorsements from New Balance and Fanatics that brought him an estimated $28 million, so it’s not like he’s hurting for cash.
Still, in an interview with Chime shortly before the NBA Draft, Flagg’s mother Kelly stated she set a $180,000 max limit on how much her son could spend on a new car. Kelly said in the interview, “Do not buy a Bugatti right away.”
Cooper apparently opined that he should be allowed to spend $200,000.
The Mavs and Cooper Flagg are gearing up for the beginning of the NBA season. They take on the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday, October 22 at the AAC.
