Oh were would this Mavs team be if Mark Cuban was still the majority owner? Would Luka still be here? Would we be preparing for another playoff run instead of toiling in the NBA Lottery once again?
These are questions that can’t be answered, but they are definitely on top of Mavs’ fans minds after Cuban recently revealed on a podcast that he has regrets about selling the team.
More specifically, Cuban told former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and entrepreneur Kyle Waldrep in the Intersectionspodcast, “I don’t regret selling. I regret who I sold to. I made a lot of mistakes in the process, and I’ll leave it at that.”
Per the Dallas Morning News, Adelso paid $3.5 billion for majority control of the Mavericks in December 2023 with Dumont serving as the team’s governor and final decision-maker.
Cuban told Waldrep and Leppert that he sold the team, which he owned for 23 years, because of the “big emotional commitment” attached to ownership, and his reluctance to the idea of his growing children wanting to work for the Mavs.
