Study ranks Dallas the 7th most eco-conscious city in the nation

COP30, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference is underway from November 10–21, 2025 in Belém, Brazil, so global attention right now is focused on making cities around the world more eco-friendly.

Dallas is one of the cities in the U.S. leading the way.

According to new data from Compare the Market, Dallas is the 7th most eco-conscious city in the nation, and the second most eco-conscious in Texas.

Austin leads the way with a total index score, based on renewable energy usage, sustainable hotels, recycling rates, and vegan-friendly culture, of 100.

The top nine is as follows:

1 – Austin (100)
2 – San Francisco (89.3)
3 – New York City (83.9)
4 – San Diego (76.3)
5 – Chicago (73.5)
6 – Seattle (65.1)
7 – Dallas (59.5)
8 – Houston (53.7)
9 – Los Angeles (51.2)

According to CW33, Dallas reported a growing amount of sustainable hotels, “reflecting growing eco-conscious accommodations,” 3.60 vegan restaurants per 100,000, which means the city is expanding plant-based options, and 1.94 thrift stores per 100,000, showing the city encourages reuse and sustainable living.
