The 2023 NFL season is officially underway as on Thursday the league held their annual Hall of Fame game, the first preseason game of the year. While many fans were excited to watch the New York Jets take on the Cleveland Browns, it was the start of the game that got many viewers excited. That’s because a Dallas Cowboys legend kicked things off by singing the National Anthem.

DeMarcus Ware will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame this weekend, but before he officially became a member, he had one more on-field goal to accomplish. The former Dallas Cowboy and Denver Bronco got the weekend festivities started by singing the National Anthem at the Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. According to NBC DFW, Ware sang the anthem to honor his late Broncos teammate Demaryius Thomas, who he used to sing the anthem with on sidelines before games.

“He's not here right now and I knew he was gonna be there with me out there singing, so it meant so much,” said Ware. While his singing abilities are nowhere near his football abilities, many fans were surprised Ware was able to pull it off. Maybe one day he will be elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well.
