Stadium food has changed quite a bit over the years. While a hot dog, some popcorn and a beer used to be enough for fans during a sporting event, nowadays stadiums are creating dishes that would put some restaurants to shame. Now, SMU has announced they will be adding something special to their concession stands this year, as Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ will now serve barbecue at home games inside Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
SMU Athletics recently announced a deal with This and That Hospitality to bring a DFW favorite to their football stadium. Starting September 10, Ferris Wheelers will set up a stand inside Ford Stadium in the south end zone. According to Dallas Culture Map, the stand will have a rotating menu, including brisket and pork sandwiches, pork belly on a stick, and mac & cheese with brisket.
There will also be a second location on The Boulevard, where attendees can order Ferris Wheelers' food before or after the game. “We have a lot of customers from SMU, and wanted to keep building that relationship," said This and That co-owners Phil Schanbaum and Brandon Hays. For those games that get out a hand quick, at least SMU fans now have in-stadium BBQ to enjoy.
