For many people, the amount of time they spend in front of the television may be seen as a negative. Luckily, now they will be able to tell people all those years on the couch were training for a new career. A film festival in Sweden is looking for one lucky person, who will be tasked with watching 60 movies in one week while alone on a remote island.
The Göteborg Film Festival went viral recently when they announced a new contest that will send the winner to a Swedish lighthouse island for seven days. The “isolated cinema” is part of the film festival’s theme for 2021; social distances. “The only company will be the noise of the sea – and the festival films,” says the festival website.
While anyone can apply, only one person will be chosen, and they will be asked to report daily on the films and their experience on the island. The winner will be chosen on January 19 and their week on the island will start on January 30. For many, this is the dream job they’ve been waiting for.
