A Watauga family is still a little shaken after a bizarre incident at their home Sunday night.
Home security footage captured a stranger, wearing a mask of former president Joe Biden, ringing the doorbell of the home on Pebblebrook Drive. The stranger then proceeded to peel a banana while staring directly into the camera before walking away.
Julian Mancia, who lives in the home, told NBC DFW that the encounter “immediately raised concerns” inside the house. Mancia said that the time of the incident, only teenagers were inside the home.
The family called police and waited to see whether the person would attempt to enter the house. Watauga police responded but were unable to find the stranger. The department later said that no crime had been committed.
The chief added though that officers take reports of suspicious activity seriously and encouraged residents to remain vigilant. “Continue reporting suspicious activity even when the circumstances are a little bananas,” he said.
Family friend Damian Torres says the situation could have ended very differently had the stranger rang the doorbell of another home.
"He's just lucky that it was this house because, you know, a lot of other houses, they probably would have just shot like right through the door and like, you know, not ask questions even if it was just a prank," he said.
