Keith Castillo, described as a “wannabe” influencer, has garnered major criticism for his most recent stunt, where he passed out machetes, alcohol, and cigarettes to homeless individuals in Austin and New Orleans.
Castillo captioned the video, “Keeping the homeless in the streets.”
According to NY Post Castillo, who was born in Corpus Christi, spoke with police before this stunt and assured he wasn’t doing anything illegal.
Castillo thinks he isn’t doing anything immoral and believes the homeless people will not use the blades to hurt him or anyone else.
“These are for, like, tool purposes. They have zero intent for what people are claiming they want to do with the [machetes],” he said.
Castillo mentioned plans to go to New York in January. Retired NYPD Sgt. and John Jay College of Criminal Justice professor Joseph Giacalone said this stunt sounded “like a cocktail for disaster — alcohol and machetes. Could we get any dumber?”
