Most parents have a difficult time convincing their teenage kids to get off the couch and enjoy the outdoors, but for one 16-year-old from Plano the outdoors is always the better option. The teenager is an avid hiker that recently completed over 1,000 miles of hikes, including the highest peak in Europe. Now, she’s working to spread her love of hiking and the outdoors to others.
Saanvi Mylavarapu has been hiking since she was six years old, and now 10 years later she has accomplished something many thought wouldn’t be possible. According to CBS Texas, her most recent trip saw her travel across three different countries, completing the Tour Du Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe, while on the trip. "It was really exciting and especially I got to do it with my mom. It was like mother-daughter backpacking around Europe,” said Mylavarapu.
Now, Mylavarapu is collaborating with national parks for her non-profit, Nature Worthy, which encourage everyone, regardless of age to get active and protect nature. “All these hikes that I've done before have probably been over a thousand miles of hiking so far and so I hope to just do more in the future," Mylavarapu said. At this rate, 1,000 miles of hiking will seem like nothing in no time.
