People always harp on teens not being able to put down their phones and just enjoy an analog life for a while.
Maybe it’s time we all put the devices away for a minute because a new study just named Texas America’s third-most “brain-rotted” state.
The research comes from JuicePlus+, who found that Texas’ higher concentration of young people, strong engagement with apps like TikTok and YouTube, and high levels of interaction with viral content, led to its high “brain-rot” score.
Texas also ranked highest in the country for content risk, with elevated search interest in meme-driven and low-quality content, including terms like “sus”, “skibidi toilet”, and “internet meme,” and was paired with below-average teen literacy levels, which were considered as part of the analysis.
The top ten states in the study’s “Brain Rot Index” included:
1 – Utah
2 – Louisiana
3 – Texas
4 – California
5 – Maryland
6 – Oklahoma
7 – Georgia
8 – Kentucky
9 – Mississippi
10 – Kansas
The state least afflicted with brain rot? Montana.
