Southwest Airlines didn’t have the best end to 2022, but they are starting the New Year off on the right foot. In an attempt to gain forgiveness for their mass flight cancellations during the holiday season, the airline has already offered customers frequent flyer miles as an apology. Now, they have gone a step further as they have teamed up with PayPal to refund additional costs that passengers incurred during that week’s crisis.
With so many flights cancelled by Southwest during the holiday season, many travelers thought they would never see the money spent on tickets again. However, passengers that submitted receipts through the airline's travel disruption web page have recently reported receiving emails from the airline with steps to get their money back. According to WFAA, the emails link to Hyperwallet, a service provided by PayPal.

"Once again, we are truly sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. Reasonable requests for reimbursement for meals, hotel accommodations, and alternate transportation (e.g., rental cars and tickets on other airlines) were honored,” Southwest wrote in the email. Along with PayPal, customers can also receive money through Venmo, MoneyGram or bank direct deposit. After this, travelers may have some trust in the airlines once again.
