Elon Musk surprised many this week when he announced he had moved from California to Texas. The Tesla and SpaceX founder had teased a potential move for his company earlier this year, but has now apparently become an official resident of the Lone Star state himself. However, his first test as a Texas resident didn't quite go as planned, as his latest SpaceX test flight ended in explosion.

SpaceX's latest launch took place near the company's South Texas facility, near the Gulf Coast village of Boca Chica. The new Starship SN8 had a successful launch, and suborbital test flight, but had some issues with the landing, causing the massive explosion. The explosion was caught on video, and quickly went video.

According to reports, the explosion was caused by rocket not slowing down in time, and colliding with the ground. Despite the ending, Musk tweeted about the test, calling it a success. Hopefully his time in Texas doesn't lead to anymore explosions, or he may have some not so friendly neighbors.
