Texans to see rare "double diamond ring" effect during upcoming total solar eclipse

Texans have a lot to look forward too with the upcoming total solar eclipse.

Almost everyone seems to be excited by its arrival, and some Texans will actually bear witness to another phenomenon with the eclipse's scheduled arrival April 8.

Just before the moon completely blocks out the sun's light, some Texans along the path of totality will bear witness to a rare "double diamond ring" effect!  This is when "two brilliant bits of the Sun being simultaneously extinguished at the beginning of total eclipse, or two brilliant bits appearing when the Sun returns at the end of totality."

Michael Ziegler with GreatAmericanEclipse.com said in a statement, "Seeing the rare and exquisite double diamond ring effect will enhance eclipse viewers' experiences inside the path of totality."

According to Chron.com, the best viewing spot for the "double diamond ring" is just a few miles north of Eagle Pass.  You can also great views in Gatesville and Temple, though it will be more prominent just west of Fredericksburg and Kerrville.

You'll have to travel a little outside of Dallas to view the effect up here, but the chance exists near Waxahachie, Ennis, Terrell, and Sulphur Springs.
