Summers in Texas are no joke, as some days are so hot many claim eggs can be cooked on the sidewalk, and cookies can be baked on a car dashboard. Now, a Texas grandmother has found a new way to take advantage of the heat. The Houston woman recently shared photos online showing she baked bread in her mailbox. While the now viral post was just a joke, it didn’t stop many from claiming it could actually be done.
As temperatures throughout Texas continue to reach the triple digits, Roberta Wright wanted to give her own spin on the "cook an egg on the sidewalk" myth. Inspired by Houston ranking 5th in the US in humidity last year, and the heat over the weekend, Wright shared photos online acting as if she baked a perfect loaf of bread in her mailbox. "I bet it would be a nice surprise for your mail carrier. My response is, only bake on Sunday. No mail delivery,” Wright captioned her now viral post.
According to My San Antonio, the photos quickly went viral, sparking a debate online on if it was possible to bake bread that way. Wright claims after sharing the photos she heard from people all over the world asking if it was real. While her bread wasn’t really made in the mailbox, with temperatures on the rise once again she might as well give it a legit try.
