At near every apartment complex across the country, residents pay some sort of pest fee that will help the complex maintain the battle against rodents, insects, and the like.
We’re not too sure where bats fall on the spectrum of pests.
Unfortunately, Melanie Byrd of Clear Lake, TX says her apartment complex has been overrun with bats, a problem three years running.
Normally the bats will get into the siding and roof and will swarm outside at dusk, but the final straw for Byrd was finding a bat flying in her bedroom.
When Byrd first moved in, she noticed the bats, but the University Green apartments assured her the problem was taken care of. But for the last three years, around this time of year, the bats start stirring.
Byrd told KHOU, “You hear them scratching on the walls. You can even hear them at night hitting the window.”
Byrd filed a report with 311 and was told a wildlife expert is supposed to come check things out soon but believes that since nothing has happened in the past, she wonders if things will remain the same.
