Certain crimes are treated differently depending on what state they are committed in. Sadly for someone in Texas, they decided to commit a crime many Texans believe should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Popular barbeque restaurant in Austin “la Barbeque” recently announced someone stole $3,000 worth of food from them, getting away with 20 briskets.

Last week, the staff at la Barbeque was treated to an unwelcomed surprise in the morning when they discovered 20 briskets were stolen from their smoker overnight. According to the restaurant’s general manager, the thief jumped a fence at around 4 a.m. and ran toward the smoker. Based on their actions, the restaurant believes the heist was planned.

“One of my strongest guys back there can barely lift 10 briskets in a box, and [the thief] lifted them over his head. So, I really just think that it was planned,” said general manager Alison Clem. According to Fox News, the restaurant claims the theft will cost them $3,000 when seasoning and labor is factored in. Hopefully this doesn’t become a trend, or brisket security will soon be a real job in Texas.
