Getting caught in the rain without an umbrella can ruin anyone’s day. Without coverage to block the rain, people are left to decide if it would be better to run or walk through the rain. For years, many have argued which is better, but now the world finally has an answer. Popular YouTube channel, Debunked, recently shared a video determining which technique is better for staying dry and the results may change the way many deal with rain.

Any time it rains, the myth that walking through the rain keeps a person dryer gets brought up. However not everyone is on board, as while walkers believe they will get hit with less raindrops, runners claim they stay dry by spending less time in the rain. Luckily, Debunked’s most recent video explains why the myth may be false. According to Laughing Squid, the video claims that factors such as wind speed, direction of the raindrops, and body weight determine how wet someone will get more than their speed.

“It appears pretty clear that running in the rain will leave you drier upon arrival when compared to walking, but for many it may not be worth doing so,” the video claims. Of course, even with a scientific review of the myth, many still believe walking is better. However, most likely those people just don’t want to be seen running and slipping in the rain.
