A growing COVID-19 outbreak at San Quentin State Prison is prompting renewed calls for early prisoner releases.
A demonstration and car caravan were held Saturday afternoon at Larkspur Ferry Terminal to draw attention to the outbreak, which has already spread to almost 100 prisoners. More than 30 San Quentin employees have reportedly also been infected with the virus.
He said the outbreak at San Quentin was sparked by a transfer of prisoners from another prison in Chino backin May, a prison that was already experiencing an outbreak of its own.
The demonstrators contend, though, that testing was inadequate.
