The Giants and Dodgers now plan to play a doubleheader Thursday afternoon, after deciding to postpone Wednesday's game in light of the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Dodgers initially voted not to take the field after star player Mookie Betts refused to play, in protest of the shooting. The game was officially called off after other players and coaching staff joined in support, following a lengthy delay.

It started first in the NBA when the Milwalkee Bucks decided not to take the court minutes before their playoff game against the Orlando Magic.

The protests spread throughout the rest of the sports world shortly after, with more NBA teams deciding against playing, before five MLS soccer games and three MLB games were postponed as well.

This came as athletes across the nation wanted to bring more of a focus on the ongoing social justice movement, after Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot by police in Kenosha while three of his children looked on from his car.

The Giants-Dodgers doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. Thursday at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
