San Francisco has not officially extended the shelter in place orders yet, but Mayor London Breed says it’s all but a foregone conclusion.

“People keep asking if the public health order will be extended,” said Breed, “the likelihood that will happen is very likely.”

She said that could mean a few weeks, potentially up to another month under these orders.

“But what it also means is an opportunity for us, with our Economic Recovery Task Force, to start to explore ways in which we can make some things available that are currently unavailble to all of us,” said Breed.

Breed says she feels for residents who are getting tired of staying at home and not seeing people outside of their household, and knows that the next few days will be especially challenging.

“This weekend is going to be a beautiful weekend in San Francisco, and I want to really take this opportunity to caution people about wanting to get back to things that are more familiar,” said Breed, “I know your kids want to play with their friends, I know you want to see your friends, I know so many of you want to have interactions with one another.”

But Breed says people are still dying and ICU numbers are up, so now is not the time to meet up.
