Aaron Persky, the former judge who presided over the sexual assault case involving former Stanford University student Brock Turner, has been let go from his job as a girls tennis coach at a San Jose high school.
A petition circulated and gained traction quickly after the news media revealed that Persky had been hired last week as the junior varsity coach at Lynbrook High School.
A spokesperson for the Fremont Union High School District said they will begin looking immediately for a new tennis coach.
Persky was recalled from the bench last year after sentencing Turner to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious female behind a dumpster at Stanford.
He could have sentenced Turner to 14 years in prison.
