The Kincade Fire grew by 12,000 acres overnight to 66,231 charred acres Monday morning, according to Cal Fire.
The Kincade wildfire had wrecked 94 buildings in Sonoma County, a number that was unchanged from Sunday night.
Firefighters maintained containment at 5% on Monday, Cal Fire said.
A day earlier, there was 10% containment as the wildfire has consumed storied vineyards in wine country and reached toward communities that suffered major damage in fires two years ago.
The Kincade Fire is the largest in a number of blazes that have ignited in the few days around California. Some Lafayette residents were told to leave their homes Sunday for a brief period. A fire there destroyed a tennis club.
There was a fire Sunday near each end of the Carquinez Bridge in Vallejo and Crockett. The bridge and a section of Interstate 80 were shut for five hours.
Southern California faced serious fires too. The Getty Fire in Los Angeles broke out early Monday while the Tick Fire, which started Oct. 24, had grown to 4,615 acres.
